Strong-arm bikejacking in Montgomery Village


Montgomery County police responded to a strong-arm carjacking in Montgomery Village Monday night that turned out to be a bikejacking. The victim and suspect had agreed to meet in the 20100 block of Waringwood Way so the suspect could purchase the victim's dirt bike. But when the suspect arrived at 8:44 PM, they took the bike by force and rode off into the night. Police have not released a description of the suspect as of this writing.

Strong-arm robbery at gas station in Montgomery Village


"Crime is down" in Montgomery County, and if you don't believe it, just ask the afternoon cashier at the BP gas station in Montgomery Village. Three juveniles entered the station's convenience store at 5:15 PM on May 11, 2026. They proceeded to physically assault the cashier, and pocket some merchandise, to boot. Montgomery County police were able to locate and arrest one of the three youths.

Police are still looking for the other two juveniles, who remain at-large. They are described only as two Black males aged 13-14. Yet another violent crime taking place in broad daylight in Montgomery County, a disturbing recent trend.

Police investigate shots-fired incident in Montgomery Village


Several Montgomery Village residents called 911 last night and reported hearing gunfire in the 18500 block of Locust Point Court. Montgomery County police were dispatched to the scene at 10:16 PM Thursday, May 21, 2026. Officers arriving at the scene were able to locate evidence that weapons had been discharged in that area. No injuries were reported, and no suspects are in custody at this time.

Police investigate cocaine dealing in Montgomery Village


Montgomery County police responded to a report of drug dealing at a townhome in Montgomery Village this past Tuesday night, May 12, 2026. The alleged drug activity was reported at a townhome in the 19700 block of Greenside Terrace at 8:20 PM. Cocaine was the illegal substance allegedly being sold.

Armed robbery in broad daylight in Montgomery Village


Montgomery County police responded to a report of an armed robbery in Montgomery Village yesterday afternoon, May 4, 2026. The robbery was reported at the intersection of Montgomery Village Avenue and Wightman Road at 3:52 PM Monday. According to police, two suspects attempted to take property from the victim. When the victim resisted, one of the suspects pulled out a knife and threatened him. 

The two suspects then attempted to escape by boarding a Ride On bus. However, the bus was stopped and not immediately departing. The botched escape gave police time to catch up and arrest the two suspects.

Strong-arm robbery in Montgomery Village


When they lose the knife, they have to resort to bare hands. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we're heading back to one of the highest crime streets in Montgomery County, Lost Knife Road in Montgomery Village. Montgomery County police responded to a report of a strong-arm robbery there at 2:31 PM on March 29, 2026. Two suspects assaulted and stole property from the adult male victim.

Armed robbery in broad daylight in Montgomery Village


Even lunchtime isn't safe anymore in Montgomery County. County police responded to a report of an armed robbery in Montgomery Village on March 23, 2026. The robbery was reported on an unspecified block of Apple Ridge Road at 12:40 PM. Police say two suspects approached the victim, and one of the two displayed a firearm. They took property from the adult male victim and fled on foot.

Strong-arm robbery in Montgomery Village


Montgomery County police responded to a report of a strong-arm robbery in Montgomery Village yesterday afternoon, March 29, 2026. The robbery was reported in the 9600 block of Lost Knife Road at 2:31 PM Sunday. According to police, two suspects physically blocked a vehicle. Assaulting the driver, they ripped his watch off his wrist and fled on foot. Police have not released a description of either suspect.

Police officer shoots alleged gunman who fired at cops in Montgomery Village


A Montgomery County police officer shot an alleged gunman who police say fired two shots at officers first in Montgomery Village yesterday, March 24, 2026. The officers were proactively patrolling in the high crime area of Lost Knife Circle Tuesday afternoon. While in the vicinity of Montgomery Village Plaza on Contour Road, they observed suspicious activity, and approached an adult male suspect to investigate. The suspect took off running, and attempted to seek refuge in an apartment complex on Lost Knife.

As officers turned a corner at the complex in pursuit, the suspect allegedly fired two shots at them. One County officer returned fire, striking the suspect. They provided first aid to the suspect, who was then transported to a local hospital in stable condition. He is expected to survive. 

Officers recovered a handgun at the scene. No injuries were reported beyond the suspect. The officer who fired the shots has been placed on administrative leave, and the Major Crimes Division is conducting the investigation into the shooting. Police said this is an active and ongoing investigation, and that the suspect’s identity and charges will be released when they become available.

Suspicious activity in Montgomery Village leads to arrest of two


Lost Knife Circle in Montgomery Village is one of the highest crime addresses in Montgomery County, so it's good to hear County police were "conducting proactive enforcement" in that area this past Monday evening, March 9, 2026. Around 7:00 PM, officers observed suspicious activity involving a vehicle parked outside of an unspecified commercial establishment on Lost Knife. They quietly pursued the vehicle, and when the driver made a moving violation, conducted a traffic stop in the 17500 block of Towne Crest Drive. 

Searching the vehicle, officers allegedly recovered a firearm and narcotics. 78-year-old James Curtis Avant, of Bowie, and 29-year-old D’Andre Michael Wiggins, of Germantown, were arrested and charged with multiple drug and handgun-related offenses.

Burlington sets opening date for Montgomery Village store


We now have an opening date for the new Burlington store at 19142 Montgomery Village Avenue at the Montgomery Village Center. The store is now scheduled to open on April 24, 2026, just in time to shop for your summer wardrobe. Burlington is replacing Big Lots at the center. I was sad about the closure of Big Lots, but Burlington is an excellent replacement, and better than I expected.

Montgomery County police responded to a report of indecent exposure in Montgomery Village early Sunday morning, February 22, 2026. The incident was reported in the 20000 block of Goshen Road at 12:01 AM Sunday. An individual was also accused of assault in the same incident.

Montgomery County police responded to a report of an aggravated assault in Montgomery Village on November 27, 2025. The assault was reported in the 9100 block of Rothbury Drive at 6:58 PM. Police say the two victims were confronted by a male suspect displaying a weapon. He allegedly proceeded to assault them and fled.

Attempted armed robbery in Montgomery Village


Montgomery County police are investigating an attempted armed robbery that took place in Montgomery Village on October 21, 2025. The incident was reported in the 19300 block of Keymar Way at 4:59 PM. An armed suspect displayed his weapon to the juvenile victim, and attempted to take property from him. Police did not explain why he was unsuccessful in doing so, but describe him as a Black male of unknown age.
