Gaithersburg City police were called to a hotel yesterday morning, after someone reported having been assaulted there. The assault took place at the Motel 6 at 497 Quince Orchard Road at 3:30 AM. It was reported to police at 7:44 AM. 

Pickpocket strikes at hotel in Germantown

Montgomery County police were called to a hotel in Germantown early Sunday morning, October 11, 2026, after a pickpocket incident was reported there. Officers were called to the Extended Stay America Suites at 20141 Century Boulevard at 1:32 AM. Watch your wallet: remember to carry your wallet in a front pocket when possible, and never leave it unattended at any time.

Strong-arm rape inside "abandoned/condemned structure" reported in Gaithersburg

Montgomery County police responded to a report of a strong-arm rape in Gaithersburg Monday evening, September 28, 2026. The sexual assault was reported in the 900 block of Russell Avenue at 7:50 PM. According to police records, the reported incident took place in an "abandoned/condemned structure." No further information is available at this time.

Westfield implementing stiff juvenile curfew at Montgomery County malls

Those who claim crime is not a problem at the few remaining malls in Montgomery County were dealt a blow of reality today, as Westfield announced it will implement a restrictive 3:00 PM curfew for unaccompanied minors at Montgomery Mall in Bethesda and Wheaton Plaza starting September 28. Once in effect, the new policy will require any mall patron under 18 to be accompanied by a parent or supervising adult after 3:00 PM, seven days a week. Those not in compliance will be escorted from the premises by security or Montgomery County police. Supervising adults may be asked for identification with a valid I.D.

Westfield says the hours and specifics of the new policy can be changed at any time, and that it may adjust the hours of enforcement during the holiday shopping season. It also says that supervising adults will be held responsible for the behavior and actions of the juveniles under their supervision, suggesting legal liability potential for the type of assaults and shoplifting incidents that have been taking place at the property in recent years.

This curfew sadly punishes the majority of minors who lawfully engage in the All-American tradition of hanging out at the mall. It will certainly cost mall tenants financially. That dovetails with another disappointing trend: Massive international corporations like Westfield and Giant parent Ahold declining to publicly condemn pro-criminal elected officials, and put their considerable financial resources toward electing alternative leaders, and instead implementing policies that punish all customers, such as locking up items or crippling self-checkouts. Montgomery County and Maryland's weak juvenile crime policies - and weak willed business responses - seem to put criminals in charge of our community, rather than holding them accountable. Gaithersburg man arrested in Montgomery County homicide

Montgomery County police have captured the man they say fatally shot a Gaithersburg man at Potomac Woods Plaza at 1087 Seven Locks Road early Sunday morning. County police officers assigned to the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force caught up with Shayan Solimani Damabi, 21, of Gaithersburg at an unidentified motel in that city. Police say he was taken into custody without incident.

Homicide detectives used surveillance footage from the shopping center to identify Solimani Damabi as the alleged shooter. He has been charged with first-degree murder, and the use of a firearm in the commission of a violent crime. Solimani Damabi is being held at the County jail pending a bond hearing.

Gaithersburg man is suspect in Montgomery County homicide

Montgomery County police have identified a suspect in Sunday morning's fatal shooting at the Potomac Woods Plaza shopping center. Shayan Solimani Damabi, 21, of Gaithersburg is the man who killed 33-year-old Nicholas Njuki of Gaithersburg, homicide detectives allege. They believe he may still be driving a red 2018 four-door Acura TLX with Maryland license plate 3GD6732.

Police describe Solimani Damabi as being 6-feet, 2-inches tall and weighing approximately 205 pounds. His whereabouts are currently unknown.

Gaithersburg man identified as victim in Montgomery County homicide

Montgomery County police have identified the victim in the fatal shooting at Potomac Woods Plaza at 1087 Seven Locks Road early Sunday morning, September 13, 2026. Homicide detectives have also released more details about the incident. According to police, the victim, Nicholas Njuki, 33, of Gaithersburg, had a "confrontation" with the unknown male suspect inside Quincy's Potomac Bar & Grille earlier. Following the confrontation, Njuki left the restaurant with a companion, with whom he got into a vehicle. While attempting to leave the shopping center, their vehicle encountered another vehicle driven by the suspect.

Police did not describe what precisely happened next, but said Njuki ultimately exited the vehicle at 2:02 AM, at which time the suspect shot Njuki once from inside his own vehicle. The suspect then allegedly fired a shot at Njuki's companion, who had remained inside their vehicle. His companion then drove away from the scene and called 911. The suspect fled the scene in his own vehicle.

Teen stabbed in Germantown

Montgomery County police responded to a report of a stabbing in Germantown yesterday afternoon. The assault took place at the 7-Eleven store at 19786 Crystal Rock Drive at 4:25 PM Wednesday. One juvenile male victim was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries, but is expected to survive, police say. The suspect(s) in the incident remain at large as of this writing.

Violent assault in Montgomery Village

Montgomery County police responded to a report of a violent assault in Montgomery Village this past Saturday afternoon. The assault was reported in the 18700 block of Nathans Place at 3:17 PM. According to police, the victim was assaulted by an unspecified number of assailants, and was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries as a result. It was a disturbing incident for two reasons: First, it continued the troubling 2026 Montgomery County crime trend of violent crime being committed during daylight hours. And second, it took place only a block east of the Lakeforest Mall site, where developers will soon be attempting to sell homebuyers on an expensive new community in one of the highest-crime hotspots in Montgomery County.

Police investigate shots-fired incident at Gaithersburg apartment building

A shots-fired incident inside a Gaithersburg apartment building is being investigated by police. The incident was reported at an apartment complex in the 18300 block of Streamside Drive at 8:42 PM last night. According to Montgomery County police, a single shot was fired inside an apartment unit there. Police have not announced any further details yet regarding the circumstances of the discharge, or whether any charges have been brought as a result.

Self-storage unit burglarized in Gaithersburg

Montgomery County police responded to a report of a burglary at a self-storage facility in Gaithersburg yesterday afternoon. The burglary was reported at a self-storage complex in the 8500 block of Snouffer School Road at 2:55 PM Thursday. Police have not identified the specific business, but that appears to be the U-Haul Moving & Storage facility at 8501 Snouffer School Road. Officers responding to the scene found evidence of forced entry into at least one storage unit. They determined that items were stolen from the unit.

Road rage in Germantown

Montgomery County police responded to a road rage incident in Germantown yesterday morning, August 12, 2026. The incident was reported at the intersection of Father Hurley Boulevard and Waters Landing Drive between 10:00 and 10:30 AM Wednesday. According to police, amid a road rage dispute, one driver displayed a handgun to the other. No description of the suspect was released.

Car stolen from dealership in Gaithersburg

Montgomery County police responded to a report of a stolen car at an auto dealership in Gaithersburg on July 27, 2026. The vehicle was stolen sometime in the early morning hours from Mr. 301 Auto Sales at 8061 Snouffer School Road. Sleepy burglar arrested in Gaithersburg

A burglar broke into a business in Gaithersburg sometime overnight between Tuesday night and yesterday morning, only to fall asleep once inside. Workers discovered the sound sleeper at 9:53 AM inside a business in the 600 block of N. Frederick Avenue. They called police, who took the intruder into custody. Officers found no evidence that the burglar had pocketed anything while inside.

Assault at restaurant in Germantown

Two people were assaulted at a restaurant in Germantown yesterday, August 3, 2026. Montgomery County police were called to a restaurant in the 12900 block of Middlebrook Road at 10:03 PM Monday. According to police, two people were arguing outside of the restaurant. A third individual approached and pepper sprayed them. The suspect was described by police only as "a man."

Indecent exposure at pool in Germantown

Montgomery County police responded to a report of indecent exposure at a pool in Germantown Saturday afternoon, August 1, 2026. The incident was reported at a pool in the 13600 block of Ale House Circle at 4:51 PM. That is a pool located within the Millstone at Kingsview apartment complex, off of Germantown Road.

Fugitive alleged thieves found at Motel 6 in Gaithersburg

Two men accused of multiple thefts from vehicles in Bethesda were located at one of my favorite hotels in Montgomery County, the Motel 6 at 497 Quince Orchard Road in Gaithersburg. Say what you will, but these two fellas have got great taste when it comes to lodging. Craig Pendergrass, 30, of Silver Spring and Antonio Gordon, 38, of Frederick may have been expecting Tom Bodett when they heard a knock on their door, but it turned out to be Montgomery's Finest. 

Police claim numerous stolen items, including electronics and other property linked to the Bethesda thefts, were found in their hotel room. Two firearms previously reported stolen in a separate Montgomery County case were also recovered. Pendergrass and Gordon were arrested and charged with multiple counts of theft: $1,500 to under $25,000, rogue and vagabond and related charges. They are being held without bond.

Strong-arm robbery in Clarksburg

Montgomery County police responded to a report of a strong-arm robbery in Clarksburg yesterday afternoon, June 7, 2026. A teenager placed an item of clothing for sale online, and received a response from an adult male who expressed interest in purchasing it. Both parties agreed to make the transaction in the 23900 block of Burdette Forest Road. When the buyer arrived àt 1:46 PM, he knocked the teenager to the ground, snatched the apparel and fled. Police have not released a description of the suspect.

Assault in Gaithersburg park

Gaithersburg City police responded to a report of an aggravated assault at a park yesterday morning, July 5, 2026. The assault was reported at a park in the 500 block of S. Frederick Avenue at 10:13 AM Sunday. According to police, a man wielding a machete approached the victim in the park, grabbed their phone, and tossed it away. He then ran off. Police have not released a description of the suspect.

Assault at convenience store in Montgomery Village

Montgomery County police were called to a convenience store in Montgomery Village yesterday afternoon, June 30, 2026, after someone reported having been assaulted there. The 2nd-degree assault was reported at a store in the 19200 block of Watkins Mill Road at 4:44 PM Tuesday. A 7-Eleven store is located on that block. Once again, we see the 2026 trend of violent crime taking place during daylight hours.
