Sign waiver sought for new Rio Lakefront signage

A new sign is planned for the Rio Lakefront development in Gaithersburg. It will be located at the retail center's Washingtonian Boulevard entrance at Sam Eig Highway. Property owner Peterson Cos. is asking the City of Gaithersburg for a sign waiver so that the new sign can be two feet taller than the current sign regulations would otherwise allow at that spot.

City staff are recommending approval of the sign waiver. The waiver request will be reviewed by the Gaithersburg Planning Commission at its May 6 virtual meeting this week.
