Construction begins at Kobe Japan Hibachi & Sushi in Montgomery Village

Construction is underway at the newest location of Kobe Japan Hibachi & Sushi, in the Montgomery Village Shopping Center. This will be the third Kobe Japan in Montgomery County; there are existing locations in Silver Spring and Takoma Park. As you can see, work is just getting started inside the space.

Gaithersburg McDonald's renovations ahead

Another McDonald's renovation is ahead in Gaithersburg, a source with knowledge of the plans reports. The interior upgrades at the 9100 Rothbury Drive restaurant will be limited to the "back-of-the-house" kitchen area, though. No changes to business hours during the work have been announced yet.

BGR closes at Rio Lakefront in Gaithersburg (Photos)

BGR has closed at 229 Boardwalk Place at Rio Lakefront in Gaithersburg. The restaurant has been totally cleared out inside, and the windows and doors blacked out. I guess it's good BurgerFi opened at Rio this year. BGR still has locations in Bethesda and Germantown, as well as Annapolis, BWI Airport, and Columbia in Maryland.

Pollo Campero Gaithersburg update (Photos)

The interior construction appears to be just about finished at the future Pollo Campero at 426 N. Frederick Avenue in Gaithersburg. Now the furniture for the dining room area has arrived. You can see it is all still wrapped in plastic after being delivered, and the underpinnings for the future lighted sign on the front of the restaurant (top photo). It looks like a summer opening is still very much in the cards at this former KFC location.

Signage installed at Crumbl Cookies in Gaithersburg (Photos)

The sign is up at Crumbl Cookies at 277 Kentlands Boulevard in Gaithersburg. Windows are still covered on the storefront, however. This will be the second Crumbl Cookies in Montgomery County; the other is at Federal Plaza in Rockville.

Burtons Grill & Bar opens in Gaithersburg

Burtons Grill & Bar is now open at 109 Commerce Square Place at Kentlands Market Square in Gaithersburg. At 5000 total square feet, the dining room seats 106, plus 44 more at the full bar. An outdoor patio can seat another 46 patrons. Nicholas Jettmar is serving as the Executive Chef at this location, the chain's second in the state of Maryland.

“Following all of the success we’ve had in the past year with the Burton’s Grill & Bar brand, we are thrilled to be opening another restaurant, even more so because of its location in Kentlands Market Square," Burtons President and CEO John Haggai said in a statement. Hours of operation are Sunday and Monday from 11:30 AM to 9:00 PM, Tuesday through Thursday from 11:30 AM to 10:00 PM, and Friday through Saturday from 11:30 AM to 11:00 PM.

Montgomery Village Starbucks update (Photos)

The new Starbucks at the Montgomery Village Shopping Center is looking pretty sharp on the outside. Construction has greatly advanced on the exterior since my last update, and there is a nice-looking patio space for outdoor dining. A freshly-paved parking area beckons adjacent to the building. There's still a long way go to inside, however, as the interior is just a shell at the moment.
