Hughes CEO wins 2021 Aerospace Communications Award

Pradman Kaul,
President and CEO of Hughes in Germantown, has been awarded the 2021 Aerospace Communications Award given by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). He was recognized with the honor for his achievements in the creation of the Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) in the 1980s, which had an industry-wide impact in the field of satellites.

Today, Hughes controls 50% of the VSAT market. "Thank you to the AIAA for this honor," Kaul said in a statement yesterday. "It reflects the innovations and contributions of a long line of engineers at Hughes with whom I have had the privilege of working. As we celebrate half a century since the start of Hughes, I continue to be amazed and humbled by what our industry has accomplished and how much we still stand to achieve."
